Absolutely analog amplifier and nothing else. It is a very good choice for an introduction to high fidelity. In combination with a good DAC and good speakers, listening to music becomes a real pleasure. Also, the musical performance from lower quality flac files and music from a CD player is simply excellent and creates a sense of sound stage. With higher quality sound sources, such as records and 24/192 flac files, the amplifier's performance is more than remarkable and sonically flawless. Even at low volume, which is how I use it since I live in an apartment, its performance is very good. After eight months of frequent use, I may regret being frugal with my money and not buying the A-S 2200.

The meters are a very powerful feature, while all the buttons and the front panel are made of aluminum, truly exquisite craftsmanship. It offers many analog inputs, while the main input personally allows me to control the sound of the TV from its remote control and not from the amplifier, which is impressive for an analog product.
The sound is truly refined with satisfactory instrument separation, while at position 0 (bass-treble) it essentially becomes pass through. Of course, it is necessary to pair it with good speakers. I have connected it to the Bowers & Wilkins 603 S2 Anniversary Edition with bi-wiring and banana plugs, and it drives them comfortably.
The 4 stars are for the excessively high price. I recommend it if you plan to keep it for decades...

Very good amplifier. Excellent, really excellent, build quality.
Very nice, refined sound (especially in the midrange and highs), very detailed and analytical, without being "clinical". Instruments are easily distinguishable even in large symphonic ensembles. Drives demanding speakers with characteristic ease. The sound is equally good at low and high volume.
The phono stage is unexpectedly good. It probably doesn't need an external phono stage.
The headphone output is decent, but only up to a certain point.

It was purchased on 13/1/2021, the build quality is exceptional for its price. It is a fully analog integrated amplifier that can be connected both as a preamp and as a power amp in a system. The construction screams quality, I will emphasize it again, with no traces of plastic and compromise in terms of build quality. It is Made in Malaysia but the build quality inside and especially inside the amplifier shouts JAPAN.

Its old-school look with the beautiful VU meters is so timeless that the amplifier will look modern and you will want it to be the centerpiece for another 20-30 years. It has that characteristic lively Yamaha sound, very well-balanced midrange and bass, and I would say that I noticed a significant difference in the speed of the speakers and how much more cohesive the sound is now. (tested with 2 sets - Dali Oberon 1 and Pure Acoustics Dream77). It has plenty of line inputs to connect anything analog. It does not have digital inputs or Bluetooth/Wi-Fi, which personally doesn't bother me as I mainly play vinyl/CD and Spotify with an external Bluetooth streamer connected to the line input.

The phono stage is also very good. Yamaha offers a 5-year warranty extension through online registration of the device (which is quite generous considering that others only provide the mandatory 2-year warranty required by European legislation).

In short, in this price range, it is an excellent choice. So far, after listening for almost 20 hours, I have not noticed anything negative. I will come back in a few months if anything changes, although I highly doubt it.
