This work constitutes the first systematic, scientific effort for the comprehensive study of the impacts on the Greek political system from Greece's participation in the unification process within the framework of the European Community/Union.
In particular, the main objective of this study is to investigate, analyze, and evaluate the effects of Greece's participation in the European Community/Union (E.C./E.U.) on the Greek political system with two specific axes of interest: (a) the relationship between the state and society, and (b) the aspect related to the question of whether participation expands or shrinks the democratic character of society and the political process as well as, particularly, of "civil society".
