With the publication of the first volume of the "Catalog of Sculptures of the Thessaloniki Museum," the systematic publication of the sculptures housed in the Archaeological Museum of Thessaloniki begins.

The interest in Greece for such scientific publications is, as is known, very limited. Even during periods when large amounts are available for all kinds of archaeological activities, financial resources for the writing of scientific catalogs are very difficult to secure.

The first volume of the Catalog includes the sculptures from the exhibition, apart from the fully rounded portraits from the Roman period, which will be presented in the next volume of the series.
