It protects the iPad from all sides without wearing it out, as the material of the back cover is soft. The front cover (which is firmly connected to the back) folds and becomes a stand, either upright or lying down, and also wakes up the iPad as soon as it opens. The Pencil works flawlessly and stays in its natural position on the side of the iPad where it charges, instead of inside the case like in some others (it should stay in its original position when not in use to protect its battery from complete discharge, which damages it - look it up). Overall, excellent. Time will show its durability.
