The young men and women of our age, those who were born from the 1980s onwards, have grown up and live in a period that has been overall marked by the overthrow of Socialism in the Soviet Union and the states of socialist construction.

It is a period in which the negative consequences of the counter-revolution and the crisis of the international communist movement have been deeply etched. Tons of mud and slander have been hurled against the contribution of Socialism to humanity during the 20th century.

The present edition of the Central Committee of the KNE aims to contribute to the ideological and political front against the bourgeoisie and opportunism regarding the issues of socialism-communism, its laws, and its historical contribution.

The edition 'Truths and Lies about Socialism' will be completed in three parts. In the first part that you hold in your hands, we will address issues of socialist economy. It consists of five chapters:

• The purpose of directly social production
• The socialization of the means of production
• The central commentary
• Socialism, market, and commodity relations
• Does socialism mean isolation?

The next two parts will address issues of the workers' power and issues of distortion of the history of socialist construction in the 20th century, respectively.
