Its ideal use is to desolder 2-3 complete ones and then turn it off. So what happens if you desolder 142 in a row?

Gun temperature at 380C because it was clogging.

The pump started to smell burnt, the machine raised temperatures that no machine should raise (82C), nevertheless it continued to work without problems. At 142 ICs it needed cleaning twice, the gun clogged once, at the beginning due to my own mistake.

After the overheating, I attached a blower fan from a 1U server to the back, above the power cable. It solved the overheating problems and the machine works OK.

It does take a while to reach 380 though, about 2 minutes, but once it gets there it works like clockwork. The pump still smells burnt after many hours of use though.

  • Quite a good machine, quite high quality (gun), with enough suction power. It quickly reaches the desired temperature (less than 1 minute). Good build quality.
