Amid the broader concerns regarding Turkey's aggressiveness and the imbalance of power between Greece and Turkey, this study applies economic theory and methodology to the defense sector, aiming for better solutions in weapon systems selection.

Starting with theoretical analysis, the study proceeds to application, with the main example being a cost-effectiveness analysis in the choice of fighter aircraft for the Air Force. This section is based on more extensive research submitted to the Ministry of National Defense in October 1998.

The study includes chapters that analyze related topics, such as the Unified Defense Space of Greece-Cyprus, communications, the evolution of weapon systems, developments in tactical and strategic doctrines (e.g., the new American doctrine of the Integrated Battlefield), and is complemented by maps specifically designed for this edition that explain some of the above elements.
