The "History of the Greek Nation" was published by Konstantinos Paparrigopoulos in 1853, when he was 38 years old, having been appointed professor of History at the University since 1851, where he initiated the teaching of this subject, while previously only General History and the History of ancient peoples were taught.
Thus, within this characteristic title, he presented for the first time a diagram of his grand History and charted the path for later Greek historical inquiries and positions. The year this book was published, exactly in the middle of his life, also reflects the new direction of Hellenism towards the ideal of the Great Idea.
