The concepts of Kantian philosophy, as developed in the Critique of Pure Reason, "Phenomena" and "Noumena" (specifically in the Greek formulation), also delineate the functionality of the theatrical phenomenon within the tradition of European thought, as articulated in the allegory of the world theater during Shakespeare's time, and even much earlier among the Byzantines, the Church Fathers, during the Greco-Roman era, and in Cynical philosophy.

This volume gathers ten theatrical studies, primarily unpublished or only partially published, from the last two years of the author's research explorations and wanderings, and they have, except for the first study, mainly historical character. These studies are presented in a chronological order, starting from Byzantium and reaching the post-war theatrical developments.
