The book: Haru is an orphaned elephant who lives in the Elephant Orphanage and considers Amiya, who takes care of him, as his mom. When Amiya needs to leave him for a while, she gently rests her long stick near his ear and on the ground. The little elephant has learned that he must stay in his place and wait for her. One day, a terrible storm breaks out in the jungle, and the nearby river swells, sweeping away Amiya. Haru wants to help her but feels the stick at his ear holding him captive. The series: The illustrated books in this series promote empathy and emotional intelligence, introducing children to seeing the world through the eyes of others, after they first learn to recognize and manage their own feelings.
