A true story from the early youth of a Greek woman, which she narrates to her children years later. Her storytelling follows the footsteps that led her and her family to distant Ethiopia.
In the horrors of World War II and the harsh Bulgarian occupation in Thrace, the family is forced to flee due to the political beliefs of the father, who is relentlessly persecuted. They pass through terror and hardships across the great river and manage, through numerous adversities, to travel while staying united, crossing many countries for three dramatic years.
They overcome dangers that threaten their lives and experience adventures, some of which they wish they could forget. They struggle with strength and soul to experience tomorrow once again in their homeland. The river was good to them!
