Description

A game with mirrors in which the plot of the detective novel is reflected. The story unfolds in Viggata, plagued by unemployment, domestic violence, and family dramas.

Montalbano is enraged and is forced to invent a lie to help a young unemployed couple dreaming of starting their own family. Although there are many open fronts, the inspector has everything under control. The investigations compel him to engage with the enthusiastic, passionate activity of an amateur theater group, one of whose members is Carmelo Catalanotti: a complex personality with many dark secrets, an artist and a loan shark at the same time.

As a director, he experimented with a particularly painful method of interpretation that did not rely on theatrical mimicry but on revealing the actor's soul filled with dark passions through the realism of the directing. Catalanotti has a theatrical culture influenced by the avant-garde ideas of the twentieth century. He believes that the text plays a primary role and that work must also be done on the psychology of the actors. Thus, he encourages them to confront their deepest fears.

Andrea Camilleri was born in Sicily in 1925 and died in Rome in 2019. He is now the most widely read Italian author. He wanted to dedicate himself to writing, and when he decided to do so at the age of sixty, he immediately became a unique publishing phenomenon.

All of Italy, not just his native land of Sicily, was captivated by this great master of plot and language, of the "fatherly" Sicilian idiom. His books published by Patakis include: The Shape of Water, Terracotta Dog, The Thief of Midday, The Voice of the Violin, Thirty Days with Inspector Montalbano, The Scent of the Night, Excursion to Tindari, Montalbano's Oranges, The Brewer of Preston, Mandatory Course, The Patience of the Spider, The Fall of Macallè, Pension Eva, August Sun, Paper Moon, The Color of the Sun, The Investigations of Inspector Collura, The Butterfly's Wings, Traces in the Sand, The Bloody Field, The Age of Uncertainty, Silence, The Dance of the Seagull, Temporary Stop, The Treasure Hunt, Angelica's Smile, the anniversary edition 3 Cases for Inspector Montalbano, The Game with Mirrors, Ray of Light, A Voice in the Night, The Viper's Nest, Pyramid of Mud, The Dance of Misunderstandings, Death at Sea, Mauro's Report, The Other End of the Thread, Safety Net, and The Sign.
