The project with the imaginative title "Holy and Profane of Modern Greek" and the explanatory subtitle "Interpretive Dictionary of Religious Terminology", by the honorary professor of Classical Philology at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Ioannis Stefanis, is, according to the author, "a tool for understanding and using religious, anti-religious, and religiously inclined words of our modern language". In its more than 15,000 entries, purely theological, religious, and ecclesiastical terms dominate, covering every aspect of our ancient and modern religious life (e.g. Aaron, Abaddon, abacus, unbaptized, impassable, abbey, etc.). Many of these words, in fact (e.g. holy, sacred, Panagia, priest, Christ), have unique extent, rich analysis, and a multitude of examples and references.

Additionally, the Dictionary includes every kind of word related to any religious term: names of plants (e.g. angelica, demonaria, theophagy), animals (devilfish, psalter, sea-cross), objects (holy stone, ring, sign), customs (vigil, bell-ringing, incense), habits or activities (athlō, unseated). Moreover, the Dictionary does not lack dialectal words from various parts of Greece, which show local customs and traditions. In this way, the book is transformed into an excellent reading that reflects the various ways in which our religious and ecclesiastical tradition has generally influenced the modern Greek language and ultimately our lives.

The material is drawn from texts, both demotic and katharevousa, by 250 authors (theological, scientific, popular, etc.) and 170 writers. Each entry, apart from the interpretation or interpretations, includes rich examples from modern Greek literature, synonyms, antonyms, etymologically related and semantically related words, proverbs, expressions, phrases, and factual comments, and, when necessary, etymology.

With unique methodicalness and incredible passion, combined with excellent knowledge of the field and strict scientific rigor, the author, Giannis Stefanis, who humbly declares that his work "is mainly aimed at students and pupils and their teachers, linguists, journalists, translators, theologians, and young clergy", incorporates sixteen years of personal effort into the book and ultimately addresses all of us.
