It is ideal for landscape, street, and family photography. In my opinion, it has very good sharpness and color rendering. I usually use it at f/2 or f/2.8, but even at f/1.8, it gives satisfactory results. It has a solid, all-metal construction, but unfortunately, it is not weather sealed. I recommend it, especially now that its price is affordable.

Very good lens. Its focal length is ideal for a general-purpose prime lens. Ideal for night photography. Compared to the 12-40 f/2.8, the only reason I would prefer it is its minimal weight. It balances very well on the camera, gives style, and does not tire. You focus more on framing and not on zooming. In terms of photo quality, I would prefer the 12-40 2.8. Although it is a zoom lens, the photos taken with it surpass those taken with the 17mm.
