Dear Student: We love economics. We have economic discussions, use economic arguments, and think economically every day. We apply economics in our lives, not only when deciding whether to refinance a loan but also when choosing the strategy we will follow to make our date or marriage successful or even to be good parents to our children.
Yes, we are indeed a bit quirky. That’s why we will proceed here with a warning. If the thought that you too might become a little quirky gives you pause, Do Not Read This Book. Because once you are exposed to the economic way of thinking, there is no turning back – you will see the world through different eyes, and it will change you.
Are the things you will learn here worth it? You will judge that for yourself. We consider economics to be something significant. We need it to make better investments, but also better choices in our lives overall. Citizens of a democracy should be able to evaluate and judge issues of taxation, deficits, trade, healthcare, and inflation.
Do you really prefer to be uninformed or informed voters? The economic way of thinking will help you understand everyday issues and explain them confidently to a third party.
We won’t lie to you: Economics can be challenging. Of course, only a few valuable pieces of knowledge can be easily acquired, and to truly understand economics, you will need to thoroughly grasp certain new tools and ideas like supply and demand curves, marginal thinking, and equilibrium.
However, we have made a considerable effort to exclude as many technical terms as possible and to avoid unnecessary formulations. We will only offer you what really matters. And at the same time, we will have fun.
Finally, don’t forget to check out the videos that can help you understand the course content and entertain you even more. Welcome to the world of economics.
