I am not an expert on these stones. I have no experience. But I opened the box and I see that half are lava stones and the other half are gravel. Also, except for three or four pieces, the rest of the stones were small, resulting in them falling through the placement grate. The picture on the box has nothing to do with reality. Compared to the ones I had before, which were all porous stones, half of these seem like ordinary gravel stones. I repeat, I have no experience to give an informed opinion. Next time I will choose another brand.

Adding lava stones to a typical gas grill increases temperature more quickly and maintains it more easily. Taste-wise, I haven't noticed a difference - the difference lies in the performance of the grill.
