The reporter Raoul Duke and his lawyer, equipped with determination, all kinds of drugs, and fake IDs, get into an open Chevrolet and set off from Los Angeles to Las Vegas, where they are going to cover a motorcycle race. In reality, however, this is a journey in search of the American dream in the city known as the queen of gambling.

And while they are in the absolute moral void, steeped in excess and debauchery, they are tasked with attending a national conference on dangerous substances. There, among the armed-to-the-teeth security forces, they flirt with destruction. They sink into paranoia, social distortion, and the hilarious chaos of America at a time when President Nixon is still in the White House and the country is counting the corpses of its youth in the Vietnam War.

The novel Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, now considered a classic work of pop culture, was initially published in two parts in the pages of Rolling Stone magazine (November 1971) and quickly became a success. In 1998, it was adapted into a film by Terry Gilliam, starring Johnny Depp and Benicio Del Toro.
