The HOYA R72 infrared filter is specifically designed for infrared photography with digital cameras and infrared film.
Infrared light begins in the deep red area of the visible spectrum at 750nm and increases above 1000nm. This light is not visible to the naked eye. Looking through the R72 filter appears almost opaque, because the filter only allows light from the very high red end of the visible spectrum and infrared light to pass through. Infrared photography yields very interesting, sometimes impressive and creative results in a photograph, as objects reflect infrared light differently from normal light.
Due to the nature of infrared light, the filter factor and exposure compensation vary greatly from visible light and depend heavily on lighting conditions.
It works well with digital cameras, especially mirrorless or DSLR cameras without an IR blocking filter in front of the sensor. (Check your camera owner's manual).
The filter fully transmits light at 760nm – 860nm (infrared spectrum) with 95% light transmission.
The HOYA R72 is made from high-quality Hoya crystal mounted in a precision frame made of rigid aluminum.
Consistent quality, made in Japan.
It can be combined with color black and white contrast filters, such as the R25 (red), K2 (yellow), O (orange) or other color filters to change color rendition or contrast.
