My dog (cane corso), due to arthritis, has stopped running for the past 2 years, resulting in his nails not wearing down from his weight. From the beginning, he had very aggressive behavior when we tried to cut his nails with the vet, so we were forced to sedate him every time. Since, of course, this was not a solution, I took a risk and bought this grinder.
It was a lifesaver! With gradual familiarization with the grinder and its sound, and of course lots of treats, Mortis now lets me file each nail with the large setting without any fuss.
It is definitely a time-consuming process and requires small breaks, especially in cases of dogs with large, hard, black nails like mine, but the result is rewarding!

My 11-year-old dog has the most difficult nails. Pitch black, thick, and hard, resulting in neither groomers nor veterinarians being able to cut them because the quicks are not visible, so at the 2nd or 3rd nail at most, they end up making her bleed and stop. Consequently, for the past 3 months that I've had her, she has become like Godzilla and I couldn't find a solution.
Finally, with this tool, for the first time, I was able to significantly reduce the length of her nails by myself. Nail and kibble, and she sits still because it takes them little by little, so it doesn’t hurt like with the clippers we all used to cut randomly. Of course, for nails as long as my dog's, it takes time and it needs 2-3 more sessions to get everything back to normal.
It also has a transparent cover that helps to take the nails at a specific angle and collects the dust (shaved nail) that is created. For my dog's fingers, this angle doesn't work well, but I can place her little nail from the other side at whatever angle I want. However, this cover does indeed help to prevent a lot of dust from falling everywhere. Next time, I will use it with a mask, the simple COVID ones, because the dust that doesn't get collected in the cover lingers in the air for a while and I inhale it.
It has 2 speeds and replacement sanding discs are included in the package.
For cleaning, after I remove the cover and open the part that opens, I put this part under the faucet, but very carefully to avoid getting water into the rest, as it is not waterproof. After that, I store it upside down to dry.
And to avoid the classic "breaking" where you receive it but just sit and look at it: it takes 4 AA batteries which are not included.
Edit: 3 months later, I have to note the following:
1) With the rinsing I did with water, it started to rust in some small spots, but I don't know how else to clean the dust.
2) It consumes batteries very quickly, losing performance, meaning speed of rotation. It could be plugged into the wall.
Because of these, I remove one star, but for my dog's nails, so far it remains not only the best but the only solution.

Κατάμαυρα, χοντρά και σκληρά με αποτέλεσμα να μην της τα κόβουν ούτε οι groomer ούτε οι κτηνίατροι γιατί δε φαίνονται οι πολφοί οπότε στο 2ο-3ο νύχι το πολύ τη ματώνουν και σταματούν. Συνεπώς εδώ και 3 μήνες που την έχω, έγινε σαν γκοτζίλας και λύση δεν έβρισκα.
Επιτέλους με αυτό το εργαλείο για πρώτη φορά μπόρεσα εγώ μόνη μου να της μειώσω αισθητά το μήκος των νυχιών. Νύχι και κροκέτα και κάθεται γιατί της τα παίρνει λίγο λίγο οπότε δεν πονάει όπως με τα κλαδευτήρια που όλοι κόβαμε στην τύχη. Βέβαια για νύχια τόσο μεγάλα όσο της δικής μου θέλει την ώρα του και χρειάζονται 2-3 φορές ακόμα για να έρθουν όλα στο κανονικό.
Έχει και ένα διαφανές κάλυμμα το οποίο χρησιμεύει στο να παίρνει τα νύχια με συγκεκριμένη γωνία και να μαζεύει τη σκόνη (τριμμένο νύχι) που δημιουργείται. Στα δάχτυλα της δικής μου δε βολεύει αυτή η γωνία αλλά μπορώ να βάζω το νυχάκι της από την άλλη μεριά σε όποια γωνία θέλω. Ωστόσο αυτό το κάλυμμα χρησιμεύει όντως για να μην πέφτει πολλή σκόνη παντού. Τις επόμενες φορές θα το χρησιμοποιώ με μια μάσκα, τις απλές του covid, γιατί η σκόνη που δε μαζεύεται στο κάλυμμα αιωρείται για λίγο στον αέρα και την εισπνέω.
Έχει 2 ταχύτητες και περιλαμβάνονται και ανταλλακτικά του τροχού-λίμας στη συσκευασία.
Για καθαρισμό, αφού βγάλω το κάλυμμα και ανοίξω και το κομμάτι που ανοίγει, βάζω αυτό το μέρος κάτω από τη βρύση, αλλά πολύ προσεκτικά να μην πάει νερό στο υπόλοιπο και μπει μέσα, γιατί δεν είναι αδιάβροχο. Μετά το αποθηκεύω ανάποδα για να στεγνώσει.
Και προς αποφυγή του κλασσικού "σπασίματος" που το έχεις λάβει αλλά κάθεσαι και το κοιτάς: παίρνει 4 μπαταρίες ΑΑ που δεν περιλαμβάνονται.

1) Με το ξέπλυμα που του έκανα με το νερό άρχισε να σκουριάζει σε κάποια μικρά σημεία, αλλά δεν ξέρω και πώς αλλιώς να καθαρίζω τη σκόνη.
2) Καταναλώνει πολύ γρήγορα τις μπαταρίες χάνοντας απόδοση δηλαδή ταχύτητα στροφών. Θα μπορούσε να μπαίνει στην πρίζα.
Εξαιτίας αυτών αφαιρώ ένα αστεράκι αλλά για τα νύχια της σκυλίτσας μου μέχρι στιγμής εξακολουθεί να είναι όχι μόνο η καλύτερη αλλά η μόνη λύση.

Ο σκύλος μου (cane corso) λόγω αρθριτικών έχει πάψει εδώ και 2 χρόνια να τρέχει, με αποτέλεσμα να μη φθείρονται τα νύχια του από το βάρος του. Εξ αρχής είχε πολύ άγρια συμπεριφορά όταν πήγαμε να του κόψουμε τα νύχια με τον κτηνίατρο με αποτέλεσμα να αναγκαζόμαστε να του κάνουμε ηρέμηση κάθε φορά. Επειδή, φυσικά, αυτό δεν ήταν λύση, ρίσκαρα να πάρω αυτόν τον τροχό.
Μου έλυσε τα χέρια! Με σταδιακή εξοικείωση με τον τροχό και τον ήχο του, και φυσικά πολλές λιχουδιές, ο Μόρτης πλέον με αφήνει ανενόχλητη να του τροχίσω κάθε νυχάκι με τη μεγάλη σκάλα.
Είναι σίγουρα μια χρονοβόρα διαδικασία και χρειάζεται μικρά διαλείμματα, ειδικά στις περιπτώσεις σκύλων με μεγάλα, σκληρά, μαύρα νύχια, όπως του δικού μου, αλλά το αποτέλεσμα ανταμοίβει!

Καταπληκτικό προιόν, λιμάρει πολύ γρήγορα και ανώδυνα τα νύχια του σκυλάκου μου. Το μοναδίκο "μειον" είναι ότι χρειάζεται 4 μπαταριες ΑΑ που τελειώνουν σχετικά γρήγορα επειδή το μηχάνημα είναι αρκετά δυνατό. Προτιμήστε επαναφορτιζόμενες μπαταρίες.

My 11-year-old dog has the most difficult nails. Pitch black, thick, and hard, resulting in neither groomers nor veterinarians being able to cut them because the quicks are not visible, so at the 2nd or 3rd nail at most, they end up making her bleed and stop. Consequently, for the past 3 months that I've had her, she has become like Godzilla and I couldn't find a solution.
Finally, with this tool, for the first time, I was able to significantly reduce the length of her nails by myself. Nail and kibble, and she sits still because it takes them little by little, so it doesn’t hurt like with the clippers we all used to cut randomly. Of course, for nails as long as my dog's, it takes time and it needs 2-3 more sessions to get everything back to normal.
It also has a transparent cover that helps to take the nails at a specific angle and collects the dust (shaved nail) that is created. For my dog's fingers, this angle doesn't work well, but I can place her little nail from the other side at whatever angle I want. However, this cover does indeed help to prevent a lot of dust from falling everywhere. Next time, I will use it with a mask, the simple COVID ones, because the dust that doesn't get collected in the cover lingers in the air for a while and I inhale it.
It has 2 speeds and replacement sanding discs are included in the package.
For cleaning, after I remove the cover and open the part that opens, I put this part under the faucet, but very carefully to avoid getting water into the rest, as it is not waterproof. After that, I store it upside down to dry.
And to avoid the classic "breaking" where you receive it but just sit and look at it: it takes 4 AA batteries which are not included.
Edit: 3 months later, I have to note the following:
1) With the rinsing I did with water, it started to rust in some small spots, but I don't know how else to clean the dust.
2) It consumes batteries very quickly, losing performance, meaning speed of rotation. It could be plugged into the wall.
Because of these, I remove one star, but for my dog's nails, so far it remains not only the best but the only solution.

Η 11χρονη σκυλίτσα μου έχει τα πιο δύσκολα νύχια. Κατάμαυρα, χοντρά και σκληρά με αποτέλεσμα να μην της τα κόβουν ούτε οι groomer ούτε οι κτηνίατροι γιατί δε φαίνονται οι πολφοί οπότε στο 2ο-3ο νύχι το πολύ τη ματώνουν και σταματούν. Συνεπώς εδώ και 3 μήνες που την έχω, έγινε σαν γκοτζίλας και λύση δεν έβρισκα.
Επιτέλους με αυτό το εργαλείο για πρώτη φορά μπόρεσα εγώ μόνη μου να της μειώσω αισθητά το μήκος των νυχιών. Νύχι και κροκέτα και κάθεται γιατί της τα παίρνει λίγο λίγο οπότε δεν πονάει όπως με τα κλαδευτήρια που όλοι κόβαμε στην τύχη. Βέβαια για νύχια τόσο μεγάλα όσο της δικής μου θέλει την ώρα του και χρειάζονται 2-3 φορές ακόμα για να έρθουν όλα στο κανονικό.
Έχει και ένα διαφανές κάλυμμα το οποίο χρησιμεύει στο να παίρνει τα νύχια με συγκεκριμένη γωνία και να μαζεύει τη σκόνη (τριμμένο νύχι) που δημιουργείται. Στα δάχτυλα της δικής μου δε βολεύει αυτή η γωνία αλλά μπορώ να βάζω το νυχάκι της από την άλλη μεριά σε όποια γωνία θέλω. Ωστόσο αυτό το κάλυμμα χρησιμεύει όντως για να μην πέφτει πολλή σκόνη παντού. Τις επόμενες φορές θα το χρησιμοποιώ με μια μάσκα, τις απλές του covid, γιατί η σκόνη που δε μαζεύεται στο κάλυμμα αιωρείται για λίγο στον αέρα και την εισπνέω.
Έχει 2 ταχύτητες και περιλαμβάνονται και ανταλλακτικά του τροχού-λίμας στη συσκευασία.
Για καθαρισμό, αφού βγάλω το κάλυμμα και ανοίξω και το κομμάτι που ανοίγει, βάζω αυτό το μέρος κάτω από τη βρύση, αλλά πολύ προσεκτικά να μην πάει νερό στο υπόλοιπο και μπει μέσα, γιατί δεν είναι αδιάβροχο. Μετά το αποθηκεύω ανάποδα για να στεγνώσει.
Και προς αποφυγή του κλασσικού "σπασίματος" που το έχεις λάβει αλλά κάθεσαι και το κοιτάς: παίρνει 4 μπαταρίες ΑΑ που δεν περιλαμβάνονται.
Edit: 3 μήνες μετά έχω να σημειώσω τα εξής:
1) Με το ξέπλυμα που του έκανα με το νερό άρχισε να σκουριάζει σε κάποια μικρά σημεία, αλλά δεν ξέρω και πώς αλλιώς να καθαρίζω τη σκόνη.
2) Καταναλώνει πολύ γρήγορα τις μπαταρίες χάνοντας απόδοση δηλαδή ταχύτητα στροφών. Θα μπορούσε να μπαίνει στην πρίζα.
Εξαιτίας αυτών αφαιρώ ένα αστεράκι αλλά για τα νύχια της σκυλίτσας μου μέχρι στιγμής εξακολουθεί να είναι όχι μόνο η καλύτερη αλλά η μόνη λύση.
