Anthropology has paradoxically shown little interest in modern Greek culture, despite the fact that it emerged at the height of a Europe that drew inspiration from ancient Greece. This innovative and ambitious work moves the ethnographic study of modern Greek society from the margins to the center of anthropological theory and demonstrates the broader benefits that this endeavor brings.
