I use the soap with a hand foamer. I would say it produces a sufficient and thick lather depending on the dosage. I followed the instructions exactly, using a sponge with microfibers and rinsing with calm water without pressure. There was a lot of residue left on top. Also, be aware that the better maintained or freshly painted a car's color is, the easier the wax sits on top.
