Description

Description

Highly absorbent silver alginate dressing for moderate to heavily exuding ulcers with infection of any size, shape, and depth.

Features

  • The design and cohesive structure of the plaster allow you to cut it to fit ulcers of any size, shape, and depth.
  • Biatain Alginate Ag offers continuous antibacterial action throughout its application (up to 7 days).
  • The high cohesion of the plaster allows it to be removed without leaving residues, minimizing pain and injury.
  • The absorbency and gel formation that retains exudate prevent leakage that can cause damage from maceration of the surrounding skin.
  • Unlike hydrofiber dressings, it has documented hemostatic action, meaning the ability to stop blood flow in minor bleeding. As the ulcer exudate is absorbed by the plaster, a soft, cohesive gel forms that adapts to the shape of the ulcer bed, providing better infection control.
  • The silver complex releases ions when it comes into contact with the ulcer exudate.

Usage

  • Can be used on all partial or full-thickness ulcers with moderate to high levels of exudate.
  • Can be used on ulcers with infection or at increased risk of developing infection.
  • Can be used in combination with compression bandaging.
  • Should not be used on dry or lightly exuding ulcers or for controlling heavy bleeding.
  • Indicated for foot ulcers, pressure ulcers (bedsores), diabetic foot ulcers, donor sites, wounds, and second-degree burns.

Composition

The Biatain Alginate Ag is an alginate dressing composed of calcium alginate, carboxymethylcellulose (CMC), and an ionic silver complex.
