No. For a child it might be okay, but for someone who is learning freehand drawing or a professional, they don't work. They may be more economical, but they lack depth of color, coverage, and the graphite smudges very easily, resulting in frequent sharpening (thus making them not so economical) and damaging the paper. Personally, I won't buy them again, not even for a child.
