The drama of Henrik Ibsen, set in Medieval Norway and following the tradition of folk ballads, is being translated for the first time from Norwegian.

The edition includes the various drafts of the work over a span of 28 years, footnotes throughout the text, a biography, information about the edition and the performance history of the work, analysis, and bibliography, designed to assist the average reader, the theater artist, and the specialized researcher.
