Description

Then dozens of stories that Kastelanis had heard in prison, at the harbor, and in the dives descended from the sky. Like fiery tongues in a demonic inspiration, the lives of the people he had known entered his mind. With lightning speed, he filtered the harshest and most unjust ones with his mind. Prostitutes, urchins, petty criminals, all those who had seen the inhuman face of society that had led them to a life of poverty, crime, and exclusion, without having truly chosen it themselves. The tongues licked every crevice of his mind and whispered to him like Sirens, "Avenge!"

It began to drizzle. The fine raindrops cooled Kastelanis in the heat of the murder. They mixed with his sweat and ran down his face, filling it with horrific muddy streaks from the dust that had settled on him as he walked through the wilderness. His appearance became more terrifying.

Now he danced in the drizzle an occult demonic dance. The screams and the gentle sound of the rain were the music to his dance. He no longer struck to the core, but he enjoyed it immensely. The tongues in his mind cheered him on and told him to continue with the same passion.

In the first half, the action didn't progress and you were saying come on, come on, let something happen, don't describe anymore. However, something keeps you going and you continue, where in the second half you don't want to put it down from your hands. It's shocking that it refers to a true story; it's like you are there and feel along with the protagonists all the pathologies of the Greek countryside.

I got to know the story and heard enthusiastic reviews about the TV series, so I got the book. Very well-written, simple but with a particular descriptive expression, it "flows" effortlessly. I read it in 6 consecutive hours, but it's not something that "sucks you in!" Quite a bit of length, about half, is dedicated to the situation before the events and a little "rushed" in the rest. Ultimately, a very good account and as much as possible, a retrospective description of a true story, without novelistic dramatization.

Very close to the movie I saw before reading it. However, you should first read the book and then watch the movie because the image is always more powerful and strictly judges the book. Nice reason.

A captivating story that combines intense emotions and philosophical quests in a unique narrative. The author skillfully weaves the (true) stories of a family in Kythira as well as the other figures of the local community, creating a web of human relationships and emotions that cannot fail to touch you as a reader. With symbolism and rich description, the author highlights the difficulties of life while simultaneously casting a critical eye on the cultural and social structures that determine our choices. The language of Dimakis is rich and dense, full of images that come alive before your eyes. An easy-to-read book that will take you on a journey and will certainly not leave you indifferent.

Wonderful book, delves into the human soul, reminiscent of Papadiamantis and Dostoevsky. The three stars because it has been printed incorrectly. 17 pages are missing, while 31 pages are duplicated.

This is a true story, with altered names and events, for the protection of the victims, without this affecting the outcome.
Easy-to-read book, descriptive, a real companion for the summer months and beyond.

It is an excellent novel, easy to read. The author narrates all the events with incredible mastery and simplicity so as not to tire you. The style is very evocative throughout the story, which automatically, as you read, transforms words into images that take you to another era. A chilling book from an old era that transports you to the wonderful island of Kythira (Tsirigo)

The story is quite interesting (although it is true), but the writing style tired me a bit.
Of course, every opinion is subjective.
As for the author, he is the very likable Panos Dimakis, the famous "hawk" from the TV game show chase!
