Contrastive phraseology is a relatively recent field of linguistic research, which is gaining increasing momentum as it seeks to establish itself with a clearly defined object, basic theoretical principles, distinct methodological and terminological tools. The findings of contrastive phraseology have practical applications in foreign language teaching, translation theory and practice, and lexicography. This study is an endeavor of contrastive analysis of phraseological material in Bulgarian and Greek, through which significant interlinguistic equivalences and differentiations are highlighted.
