The Terra Mystica: Merchants of the Seas expansion adds ships that travel along rivers and expand trade between factions. The shipyard upgrades shipping or range and produces ships, while twenty faction expansions add the corresponding shipyard and new abilities. Ships can be used to trade with other players or to dig and build Dwellings on adjacent hexes.
Trades earn victory points and resources depending on the delivery building, while receiving a ship from an opponent grants power. Ship movement and actions involving Dwellings add tactical options while preserving perfect information. The expansion includes new maps, tiles and actions, and also supports the factions from the Fire and Ice expansion, though that expansion is not required.
