Many of us approach Jesus with coldness and indifference. We ask Him for things we do not truly believe in. We lack a steadfast faith that He can grant them to us. We tend, for instance, to place more trust in psychiatric medication than in the grace of God when it comes to our peace.
We place more trust in an atheistic scientist than in a spiritual leader for our personal matters. Even the most divine mystery of the Holy Eucharist, when we do not firmly believe in it, does not work magically within us. It remains inactive. Additionally, the Lord fulfills our desires when they do not contradict His commandments.
Unrighteous claims, base passions, sinful requests will never be fulfilled by Christ, because He is not a "minister of sin" (Gal. 2:17). If we wish to be blessed by God and experience His grace, let us approach Him with absolute trust in His presence.
