We are delighted to offer you the new edition of the book that you have supported and loved. I won’t hide from you that all these years I have had the fear of forgetting the beginning of my career, when as a young doctor I was anxious about handling emergency cases. Now, older and calmer, my anxiety has diminished but not disappeared. Continuous education and inquiry are just a small rejuvenation against this eternal struggle.

I share your anxiety, I envy your youthful passion, and I will always be your supporter in this common fight. Do not worry, you do not have to be a magician to deal with an acute situation. All that is needed is training and knowledge. Because emergency medicine is like a scarecrow: if you see it at night, it frightens you, but if you approach it in the light of day, you demystify it.
