The grooves in the crown end earlier at the edges, leaving a smoother shoulder with more rubber in contact with the road at high lean angles for greater precision and cornering grip. The special grooves contribute to mechanical grip and water evacuation.
The rear tire’s dual compound has a 40-20-40 layout: the center band combines silica and carbon black for stability at high speeds and heat dissipation, while the full-silica side bands enhance grip on wet and low-friction surfaces and warm up quickly. The grooves also contribute to grip, water drainage, traction on low-friction surfaces, and motorcycle control when braking.
