Steel constructions are increasingly being erected worldwide today, and in bolder dimensions. At the same time, modern structural regulations, particularly the issuance of the final texts of the Eurocodes, have created a safe but demanding framework within which the engineer is called to implement the design of steel structures.
This publication studies, on the one hand, general issues of steel structures and, on the other hand, critically presents the principles of sizing the members and their connections. It is aimed at students of civil engineering departments and fellow civil engineers involved in the design of structural works, with the goal of contributing to the dissemination of the basic design principles introduced by Eurocode 3.
This book has made an effort, on one hand, to link the basic design methods with their corresponding theoretical analyses in engineering and, on the other hand, to explain the aforementioned methods with the help of related numerical applications.
