The completion of 200 years since the Revolution of 1821 is a significant opportunity to approach and understand more deeply the events that led to the formation of the Greek bourgeois state, as well as the local and international economic and social conditions within which these events unfolded.

The historical assessment of the Revolution of 1821, like any other historical event, starts from a specific class perspective, is objectively connected to today's social reality, and is therefore utilized in shaping a specific consciousness regarding the desired future.

Timelessly and regardless of the adequacy of historical documentation, the Greek bourgeoisie and its political and ideological representatives use the anniversaries of the Revolution of 1821 to promote the fundamental bourgeois ideological tenet of "national unity." In other words, they equate the interests of the bourgeoisie with the interests of the Greek people in order to advance the priorities of capitalist power.

Consequently, it is a primary need and an integral aspect of the current ideological-political and class struggle and the quest for historical truth, as much as the liberation of the working class and, generally, of popular strata from all variations of bourgeois historiography, as well as the extraction of useful historical conclusions from the Revolution of 1821 from their perspective.

The enhancement of this effort is the main reason for the publication of this particular collection of texts, which debunk many of the myths of the dominant bourgeois historiography regarding 1821 and provide significant conclusions. Of course, they do not aspire to exhaust all historical aspects of the Revolution.

However, there is an effort through the texts to highlight the essence of historical events, in order to enable the reader to form class criteria for the study of History, within the framework of a more substantive confrontation with the dominant ideology and politics.
