After a failed alchemical ceremony, Edgard loses his arm and leg, while his brother Alphonse becomes a soul inside armor. Equipped with mechanical "auto-mail" limbs, Edgard becomes a state alchemist and is tasked with facing the homunculi's plans for Amestris.
