The founders of psychoanalytic thought, from Freud to Klein and Winnicott, have argued – since the previous century – that the foundations for mental and emotional health are established very early in a person's life and that the first five years of a child's life are crucial for their later development.
The aim of this book is to highlight the theory and technique of psychoanalytic interventions in small children, as well as the potential for flexibility and adaptation to different needs that they offer.
At the same time, it aspires to present the application of psychoanalytic understanding of small children in a non-clinical setting, such as the classroom of a daycare and kindergarten, supporting the value of applying psychoanalytic practices in various circumstances.
