Authorized by Hanban, the HSK Standard Course was developed through the collaboration of Beijing Language and Culture University Press and Chinese Testing International (CTI). With primary resources from the HSK tests, the HSK Standard Course is characterized by a humorous style, familiar themes, and a scientific course design. It aligns with the structure of the HSK tests in all aspects, from content and format to levels, and represents a new series of teaching books that incorporate the idea of "integrating testing and teaching, and promoting learning and teaching through testing." It is suitable for Confucius Institutes in various countries, as well as for other Chinese educational institutions and self-taught learners.

The entire series is divided into six levels corresponding to the HSK test, with one volume for Levels 1-3 and two volumes for Levels 4-6, totaling nine volumes. Each volume includes a textbook, a workbook, and a teacher's book, amounting to a total of 27 books. This is Volume 4A, which contains 10 lessons, covering approximately 300 words (half of the vocabulary for Level 4) and detailed explanations of 50 language points and 10 groups of misleading phrases.

Upon completing this book, students will be able to engage in discussions on a wide range of topics in Chinese and communicate smoothly with Chinese language speakers. The book is illustrated with many photographs that match the testing style and is printed in full color. An MP3 CD accompanies the book.
