Two recent decisions by the Athens Court of Appeal confirm the possibility of Greek judges applying provisions from both Cypriot and Greek land registration laws.

Specifically, with TrEfaTh 1128/2019, it is demonstrated that a legislative prohibition on disposing of property of the Republic of Cyprus affects immovable property in Greece, while TrEfaTh 247/2019 provides an example of a inheritance dispute in which rules from both Cypriot and Greek law are to be applied.

This edition features sixteen distinguished contributors (judges, university professors, and legal practitioners) who explore the components of land registry as a system of substantive publicity in Cyprus and Greece, the legal protection of properties under an operational land registry system in both countries, as well as issues of prescription, and other specific matters related to Greek and Cypriot land registration laws.

The overall coordination and editorial work was led by Professor Georgios Diamantopoulos of the Law School of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, whose insights form the basis of the volume’s findings, particularly regarding the comparative overview of Cypriot and Greek land registration laws.
