Three imposing works of Greek tragedy that depict the irresistible fall of a doomed royal dynasty. The legends surrounding the house of Thebes inspired Sophocles to create this powerful trilogy about the human struggle against fate.

King Oedipus is the devastating portrayal of a leader who brings disease to Thebes for crimes he doesn't realize he has committed, and then imposes harsh punishment on himself. Oedipus at Colonus provides a fitting conclusion to the life of the aged and blind king, while Antigone depicts the fall of the next generation, through the conflict of a young woman guided by her conscience and a king who is overly confident in his authority.
