The best way to convey the events from the book to the reader, and this time in different ways, reminiscent of Tolkien's books in the description of the battle. The translation is spot-on in what it needs to convey, and it seems that this is the book that inspired CD Projekt Red to create the games and specifically, to bring this environment and world to life in an unparalleled way, something that the author also achieves here.
It never "lost" me at any moment, as it was constantly a book with enough description and not "superfluous" like the others, where sometimes I ended up skipping a few small phrases.
The ending leaves you with a constant curiosity, but if someone takes it that its continuation is the games, then they will know what happens. Truly, it is the peak of Sapkowski's books and it shows why!

However, for those who, although eager to read all the books in the series, this one and the next one (Lady of the Lake) are the "hardest" to understand in order to fully grasp the lore and how Siri's magic "works". Therefore, those who know English but may struggle with the translation in some aspects or in a more advanced level will have difficulty understanding several things as they now start to reach a more "scientific" level.
Perhaps the best thing you can do is to wait for the translated version of the book, but I doubt if the translator loves the series as much as the English translator does. It is evident from the effort he puts in to give the reader the environment in which the protagonist(s) are and how the situation around them develops, using wrong names or incorrectly translated ones.

Being a person who knows English extremely well, I can say that the book and its description in English are top-notch! The description of the countries became better, the story more readable and developed at a much faster pace, which I really liked!
The quality of the paper is thin and I quite liked it, it resembled old newspapers as it was thin and made you "care" about the page as you were careful not to tear it.
The translation is, of course, incredible in English, maybe even a better job than in Greek, as the description, as I mentioned before, becomes more detailed!

Being a person who knows English extremely well, I can say that the book and its description in English are top-notch! The description of the countries became better, the story more readable and developed at a much faster pace, which I really liked!
The quality of the paper is thin and I quite liked it, it resembled old newspapers as it was thin and made you "care" about the page as you were careful not to tear it.
The translation is, of course, incredible in English, maybe even a better job than in Greek, as the description, as I mentioned before, becomes more detailed!
Όντας ένα άτομο που γνωρίζει εξαιρετικά καλά τα αγγλικά, μπορώ να αναφέρω ότι το βιβλίο και η περιγραφή του στα αγγλικά είναι top-notch! Η περιγραφή των χωρών γινόταν καλύτερη, η ιστορία πιο ευανάγνωστη και εξελισσόταν με έναν πολύ πιο γρήγορο ρυθμό, κάτι που μου άρεσε αρκετά!
Η ποιότητα του χαρτιού είναι λεπτή και μου άρεσε αρκετά, έμοιαζε σαν τις παλιές εφημερίδες καθώς ήταν λεπτή και σε έκανε να "νοιάζεσαι" για το φύλλο καθώς προσεχες γιατί δεν ήθελες να το σκίσεις.
Η μετάφραση φυσικά είναι απίστευτη και στα αγγλικά, ίσως και καλύτερη δουλειά από τα ελληνικά, καθώς η περιγραφή όπως προαναφέρω γίνεται πιο λεπτομερής!
Incredible ending to The Witcher series and it seemed that even Sapkowski "learned" from the mistakes he made in his previous books.
The best way to convey the events from the book to the reader, and this time in different ways, reminiscent of Tolkien's books in the description of the battle. The translation is spot-on in what it needs to convey, and it seems that this is the book that inspired CD Projekt Red to create the games and specifically, to bring this environment and world to life in an unparalleled way, something that the author also achieves here.
It never "lost" me at any moment, as it was constantly a book with enough description and not "superfluous" like the others, where sometimes I ended up skipping a few small phrases.
The ending leaves you with a constant curiosity, but if someone takes it that its continuation is the games, then they will know what happens. Truly, it is the peak of Sapkowski's books and it shows why!
The quality of the book is exactly the same (logical, of course) as the previous ones in English literature, The Witcher books.
It's a shame that the Netflix series doesn't want to follow the events one by one, because through them they would have a better connection.
But don't be confused, because in the book it shows that there is a continuation, but it's not true, because it's just a few more stories that Sapkowski created after he finished The Lady of the Lake, and he wanted his fans to follow him in one last "story" of The Witcher, with the events that are intermediate to the events of "The Sword of Destiny".
Απίστευτο τέλος στη σειρά του The Witcher και φάνηκε πως ακόμη και ο Σαπκόφσκι "έμαθε" από τα λάθη που έκανε στα προηγούμενα βιβλία του.
Ο καλύτερος τρόπος μεταφοράς των γεγονότων από το βιβλίο στον αναγνώστη, και αυτή τη φορά με διαφορετικούς τρόπους θυμίζοντας, αρκετές φορές, βιβλία του Τόλκιν στην περιγραφή της μάχης. Η μετάφραση είναι spot-on σε αυτό που χρειάζεται να αναφέρει, και φαίνεται πως αυτό είναι το βιβλίο με το οποίο εμπνεύστηκε η CD Project Red ώστε να δημιουργήσει τα παιχνίδια και πολύ πιο συγκεκριμένα, το περιβάλλον και τον κόσμο αυτό να τον φέρει μία απαράμιλλη ζωντάνια, κάτι που κάνει και ο συγγραφέας εδώ πέρα.
Δεν με "έχασε" σε καμία στιγμή, καθώς ήταν διαρκώς ένα βιβλίο με αρκετή περιγραφή και όχι "περιττή" που είχε στα άλλα και μερικές φορές κατέληγα να παραλείπω μερικές μικρές φράσεις.
Το τέλος σε αφήνει σε μία διαρκείς απορία, αλλά εάν κάποιος πάρει ότι η συνέχειά του είναι τα παιχνίδια, τότε θα γνωρίζει τι γίνεται. Πραγματικά, είναι το peak των βιβλίων του Σαπκόφσκι και δείχνει γιατί!
Η ποιότητα του βιβλίου είναι ακριβώς ίδια (λογικό κιόλας) με τα προηγούμενα στην αγγλική λογοτεχνία The Witcher βιβλία.
Κρίμα η σειρά στο Netflix δεν θέλει να ακολουθήσει τα γεγονότα ένα προς ένα, διότι μέσω αυτών θα είχαν καλύτερη σύνδεση.
Μην μπερδευτείτε όμως, διότι στο βιβλίο δείχνει πως έχει συνέχεια, αλλά δεν ισχύει, διότι είναι απλώς μερικές ακόμη ιστορίες που έφτιαξε ο Σαπκόφσκι αφού δημιούργησε το Lady of the Lake, και ήθελε οι fans του να τον ακολουθήσουν σε μία τελευταία "ιστορία" του Witcher, με τα γεγονότα που είναι ενδιάμεσα στα γεγονότα του "Σπαθί του Πεπρωμένου".
Incredibly good book, but I noticed something towards the end that was related to Siri's company and the elves, something that was not mentioned in any of the previous 3 books.
Of course, the translator is spot-on in many things in the translation and makes the reading even more enjoyable with the way he interprets certain things!
However, for those who, although eager to read all the books in the series, this one and the next one (Lady of the Lake) are the "hardest" to understand in order to fully grasp the lore and how Siri's magic "works". Therefore, those who know English but may struggle with the translation in some aspects or in a more advanced level will have difficulty understanding several things as they now start to reach a more "scientific" level.
Perhaps the best thing you can do is to wait for the translated version of the book, but I doubt if the translator loves the series as much as the English translator does. It is evident from the effort he puts in to give the reader the environment in which the protagonist(s) are and how the situation around them develops, using wrong names or incorrectly translated ones.

Απίστευτα καλό βιβλίο, αλλά παρατήρησα κάτι προς το τέλος, που ήταν αναφορικά με την παρέα της Σίρι και τα ξωτικά, κάτι το οποίο δεν αναφέρθηκε σε κανένα από τα προηγούμενα 3 βιβλία..
Φυσικά ο μεταφραστής είναι spot-on σε αρκετά πράγματα στην μετάφραση και κάνει ακόμη πιο ευχάριστο το διάβασμα με το τρόπο που ερμηνεύει κάποια πράγματα!
Για όσους όμως, παρόλο που ανυπομονούν να διαβάσουν όλα τα βιβλία των σειρών, αυτό και το επόμενο (Δεσποινίδα της Λίμνης) είναι τα "δυσκολότερα" να κατανοήσεις ώστε να καταλάβεις εξ ολοκλήρου το lore και πως "λειτουργεί" η μαγεία της Σίρι. Επομένως, όσοι γνωρίζουν αγγλικά, αλλά ίσως σε κάποια πράγματα ή σε πιο εξελιγμένο επίπεδο να κολλάνε με τη μετάφραση, θα έχουν θέμα με τη κατανόηση αρκετών πραγμάτων καθώς αυτά πια αρχίζουν πιάνουν ένα πιο "επιστημονικό" επίπεδό..
Ίσως το καλύτερο που είναι να κάνετε, είναι να περιμένετε για τη μεταφρασμένη έκδοση του βιβλίου, αλλά αμφιβάλλω εάν η μεταφράστρια αγαπάει τη σειρά τόσο όσο ο μεταφραστής στα αγγλικά.. Φαίνεται εξάλλου από το κόπο που κάνει ώστε να δώσει στον αναγνώστη το περιβάλλον που βρίσκεται ο πρωταγωνιστής/πρωταγωνίστρια και πως εξελίσσεται η κατάσταση τριγύρω αυτών με χρήση λάθος ονομάτων ή λανθασμένα μεταφρασμένων..
Η ποιότητα του βιβλίου φυσικά είναι ίδια με αυτή του προηγούμενου της σειράς (στα αγγλικά), αλλά προσοχή θα πω εγώ διότι καθώς δεν έχει σελιδοδείκτη και όταν παραγγέλνετε από το Skroutz, ίσως να μπορείτε να αναφέρετε στα σχόλια της παραγγελίας, να έρθει και με σελιδοδείκτη, καθώς εγώ όταν το παρήγγειλα αυτό, δεν είχε.
