The 4th volume of the Collected Works of I. V. Stalin contains the writings produced after the October Revolution, from November 1917 to December 1920.

The works from this period are dedicated to the problems of consolidating the socialist state regime, the national policy of Soviet power, the formation and strengthening of the Red Army, and the strategy and tactics during the years of foreign military intervention and the civil war.

In these pages, I. V. Stalin sheds light on the issue of the struggle of the peoples of Ukraine, the Caucasus, and the Baltic States against foreign conquerors for the establishment of Soviet power, analyzes the situation on the fronts of the civil war, from which he draws conclusions about the struggle and victory of the Soviet people.
