Land Registry Law is continuously evolving. The recent legislation – primarily Articles 1 to 42 of Law 4512/2018 – lays new foundations for the organization and operation of the National Land Registry.
The existing legal framework of Laws 2308/1995 and 2664/1998 is influenced both directly and indirectly by Law 4512/2018. The impacts are significant. It involves the abolition of existing bodies and their replacement with new authorities, with the Hellenic Land Registry as the dominant body, a legal entity of public law.
Land registration has entered a new stage in many regions of the country, namely the obligation to submit declarations. Omissions carry many risks, such as the risk of properties being marked as “unknown owner”. The establishment and operation of Land Registry Offices for non-resident Greeks, as well as the expected “information units,” are also important.
The need to inform the legal community – as well as interested citizens – about the new situation has led to this second edition of the Land Registry Law, after the exhaustion of the first edition.
This is a systematic study of the legal framework governing the National Land Registry. It is particularly important to present and analyze new case law, as well as to explore the theory case by case through a dialectical approach, all of which have covered the land registry phenomenon intensively over the last five years.
