Description

The war is over. The solstice is here. But the scars of the past are not so easily healed.

Following the devastating war against Hybern, Feyre, Rhysand, and their inner circle are back in Velaris, trying to rebuild their lives and their world. The upcoming Winter Solstice offers a hard-earned reprieve, a chance for celebration and peace. Yet the shadows of the war linger. As Feyre navigates her first solstice as High Lady, she discovers that the people she loves are more deeply wounded than she realized.

A Court of Frost and Starlight is a heartwarming and intimate novella that bridges the gap between the original trilogy and the next arc of the series. It's a story about healing, family, and the quiet moments of hope and love that shine brightest in the darkness.

This novella is for you if...

  • ...you are a fan of the ACOTAR series and want to spend more quality time with your favorite characters.
  • ...you love slice-of-life stories that focus on character relationships and quiet, emotional moments.
  • ...you appreciate narratives that explore the aftermath of major events and the difficult journey of healing from trauma.
  • ...you are looking for a cozy, festive, and heartwarming read set in a beloved fantasy world.

What makes this story stand out?

  • A Focus on Healing: The novella provides a thoughtful and gentle look at how each character is coping after the war, exploring their individual paths to recovery.
  • Intimate Character Moments: It is filled with the witty banter, deep friendships, and passionate romance that fans love, offering a closer look at the Inner Circle's dynamics.
  • A Bridge Between Arcs: It masterfully sets the stage for the future books in the series, dropping hints and setting up new conflicts and character journeys.
  • Festive and Hopeful Tone: While still touching on serious themes, the story is wrapped in the festive atmosphere of the Winter Solstice, offering a sense of warmth, hope, and belonging.

The Narrative Style: What to Expect?

  • A shift in perspective, with chapters told from the points of view of Feyre, Rhysand, Cassian, and Mor, giving readers a broader look into their thoughts and feelings.
  • A slower, more character-driven pace compared to the main novels, focusing on dialogue and introspection rather than high-stakes action.
  • The same rich, immersive prose that brings the city of Velaris and its inhabitants to life.
  • A narrative that feels like a warm hug, perfect for a cozy afternoon of reading.

  • Another masterpiece from SJM. The reader gets a closer look into Nesta and gets to understand her better. The 4/5 is because I think it was longer than needed, however it allowed the reader to get attached with the characters.

This is the novella of the series that follows the main ACOTAR trilogy in reading. I want to note that I liked it very, very much and I needed it after the intense war with Hybern! However, I would only recommend it to those who loved the series. The novella follows the period of peace after the war and the lives of each member of the Night Court's close circle, as well as the "marks" that the war left on them. It talks about the celebration of the Solstice and how the characters of the circle evolve, as well as the relationships between them, while being a step before you read A Court of Silver Flames. If you loved the series, I definitely recommend you read it, and I hope it takes you on a journey!
