WristOx2 Oxygen Saturation Sensors

Accurate and reliable SpO2 measurements begin with PureLight® sensors. Nonin's PureLight oximetry sensors produce a high-intensity spectrum of pure light that eliminates variability in measurements from patient to patient and from sensor to sensor. The red and infrared light sources (LEDs) are essential in pulse oximeter sensors.

• The red LED measures deoxygenated hemoglobin.
• The infrared LED measures oxygenated hemoglobin.

Common red LEDs often produce a second emission spectrum (contamination) that affects the measurement of oxygenated hemoglobin. LED contamination affects the calibration curve of the oximeter at oxygenation levels, resulting in inaccurate measurements at levels below 80%.
