It is the suitable tool for these tasks. But it is for MOBILE-smartphone only. I would not recommend anyone to use it as an external sound card for their computer. If you want a sound card for your computer, then this is not what you are looking for.
Tip: If your mobile phone does not have a headphone jack, then I recommend buying only Belkin adapters because they have the best input quality.
