Its "base" is the clamp as shown in the photo. It has 3 different lighting modes and in each mode you can control the intensity...! The phone holder seems very good and so far I haven't had any tragic incidents.. It is "tight" to the point where you need to apply some force to place the phone.. The "cables" are also quite flexible, without meaning that they can't withstand the weight of a phone or are fragile.
The only thing one should consider is the power supply, since it is USB. It does not include an adapter, which means you will have to sacrifice one or connect it directly to one of your computer's ports, if you choose to place it near it.. However, the computer must be on in order for the light to receive power.

Δεν περιλαμβάνει μέσα αντάπτορα, που σημαίνει θα πρέπει να θυσιάσεις έναν ή το συνδέεις κατευθείαν με μια απο τις θύρες του υπολογιστή σου, αν εφόσον επιλέξεις να τον βάλεις κοντά σ' αυτόν.. Πρέπει όμως ο υπολογιστής να είναι ενεργός για να πάρει ρεύμα το φωτιστικό.
