I am not an expert to say the negatives but I will say the positives... 1. The photos do not do it justice, it is the most beautiful turntable I have seen and can only be compared in appearance to a technics of a thousand. 2. Its sound is sweet, warm, does not leave room for complaint or parasite, and so for that little extra something maybe after a few hundred hours the cartridge may be changed for a better one and that will definitely renew the love. 3. Its weight convinces you, very sturdy both as a machine and in playing records. Beyond that, I must admit that I considered the automatic solution for practical reasons but besides the convenience, I believe that the automatic turntables I saw do not have that classic note or the seriousness that the atlp120x seems to have. In my opinion, a home turntable should resemble a turntable and not a portable record player or travel case. Also, even though I trust the needle to fall on its own, I always put my little finger on the protrusion. Finally, I will say that I got mine myself from an exhibition in Germany and it is very popular both in Germany and in Greece, as well as worldwide, in this target group everyone knows the lt120

For me personally, it was, is, and will be the best value for money turntable purchase in the category under €400, along with the also very commendable Pioneer PLX-500. It is certainly not the best on the market, as it is not the most expensive, but it definitely outperforms many more expensive models. It has a tremendously sturdy construction with a silent direct drive motor. Its phono preamp is not the best you could have, but it is there and makes life easier if you don't have an amplifier with a phono input or a preamp. With the flip of a switch, you can choose whether or not to use the preamp. It has USB for digital vinyl ripping, which personally doesn't interest me, but it is there for someone who is interested. The cartridge that comes with the turntable is the green one from the moving magnet series, with an elliptical diamond, and I would describe it as a good entry-level cartridge with some flirtation with mid-range paths. It can definitely be upgraded and multiply the quality, but it is not necessary for a beginner or any user. That's what I kept and plan to keep for a long time. The turntable takes a little time to set up correctly at the beginning with the counterweights and all, and there is a corresponding video with explanations on the company's YouTube channel. A turntable that visually resembles the Technics SL-1200, but could never reach it in any case. However, at one-fourth of the price, it does a lot more than one would expect. The best choice in my opinion at its price (purchased for €320 with free shipping due to SKROUTZ+). If upgraded in the future with a phono preamp like the Rega Fono Mini A2D or Pro-Ject Audio Phono Box MM, and a higher-level cartridge, such as some blue Ortofon or a better Audio-Technica, the level easily exceeds expectations!

I got it for home use in silver and I've had it for about 7 months.
Easy assembly, sturdy construction, professional-looking appearance.
With an external power supply, direct drive and brake, RCA cables that can of course be purchased better if desired, but also a phono preamp. I had an external phono preamp unit from Project in the past, I did tests and preferred the external one as the sound was better.
Although there is grounding on the RCA cable, I couldn't make it noiseless (in somewhat louder volumes..) resulting in a buzz when there is no music playing.
Also, I would like the needle to return to its initial position when the record ends. Of course, I knew this before the purchase but eventually I would like it.
Something that may bother some (and me) is that when you lift the needle with the arm it rises somewhat "roughly", it moves away from the point where you had lifted it...
The sound is very good and of course if someone wants they can play with other needles.
I haven't tried the USB yet.
Overall, I think it's the best proposition for its money, I got it for 240 euros!

I am concerned about my purchase, as there are technical issues with the device and it is aimed at more "advanced" users, so it is reasonable for these issues to come to the surface.

Initial impressions:

The slow needle drop does not work properly, as it falls too abruptly. It tends to jump/scratch on the first drop, unless you raise the antiskate a little. This problem is confirmed in various YouTube videos.

After a week of use, I found that the needle was bent (and I assumed it was from the factory) and I had to replace it. The second needle I bought also bent in a week. It seems to be a general problem with this turntable/antiskate/head combination. I attach a relevant photo, which although I couldn't take it completely vertically, I think it is representative of the problem.

The strange thing is that the needle bends outward as if there is a reverse pull from the antiskate (i.e. as if someone is pushing the head towards the center instead of pulling it outward as the antiskate does). This is confirmed in several forums. So if the problem is not caused by excessive antiskate, then it may be an inherent problem with the needle design or related to the aforementioned needle jump at the beginning of the record.

Also (a detail), there is no way to turn off the lighting lamp, which has a very cold light, except to remove it (yes, it snaps on and off, but then there is no space to store it).

After 6 months of use:

The slow needle drop stopped completely within the first two months of use. I had to add a special silicone gel to fix the problem, which I bought in a syringe of a few ml from abroad as the price in a vial is exorbitant (Silicone Damping Oil fluid AK 500000). Now the needle drops extremely slowly. I probably should have bought less dense silicone.

After a year of use:

I found that the antiskate on my device works normally and accurately on the dial when testing the needle on a laserdisc. However, it has a very small range, i.e. if you adjust the antiskate to balance the needle in the center of the record, then if you put it at the beginning or end of the record, it is pulled back to the center with relative force. I don't know if this is normal or if the needle should remain stationary throughout the surface of the record.

The worst thing, however, is the following. I now realize that fully manual turntables do not suit me. I particularly miss the automatic arm return feature that my old turntable had, as it allowed me to listen to music every night without the anxiety of not falling asleep. The result is that I no longer listen to as many records as before...

Given the current price increase to €379 at the time of writing this review, I will have to give it only 3 stars.

After searching through reviews and being influenced by friends who had the Audio Technica LP-120, I ended up with the new LP-120X. The differences with the old one are obvious.
1) It has an external power supply and the 230V do not enter the turntable, resulting in no noise.
2) The cables do not come directly out of the arm like in the old one, but are RCA on the turntable, so one can use better cables if they want.
3) It is generally quieter than the old one and locks exactly on the speeds, not like the old one that required precise manual adjustment.
4) It has a better head, the AT-VM95E, with a new shell, which has the ability to be upgraded by changing needles up to the Shibata trajectory! The old one had the AT-95E without this ability.
5) It has a nicer appearance.
Finally, the 120X is an upgrade of the legendary 120 in all respects and at the same price. By far the best choice for a turntable with phono and USB at this price. I am very satisfied with the machine, I hear things on records that I had never heard before, congratulations to Audio Technica!
