The distillery that produces the well-known Plomari ouzo Giannatsis in Lesvos started distilling ouzo in 1932 and is the youngest of the four distilleries remaining in Plomari. The family of Dimitrios Giannatsis arrived in Plomari from Asia Minor with the recipes of the East. There they find the best ingredients to make their distillates:
- Grapes of exceptional quality from Lesvos
- Anise from Lisvori
- Fennel and aromatic plants from the surrounding mountains
- Soft, gentle water from the Sedountas river
Today, the Plomari Distillery Giannatsis utilizes modern technologies and is devoted to the deep knowledge of the art of distillation, continuing to produce high-quality products that promote Greece and Lesvos worldwide.
