V 70 Class A

The renowned Class A technology offers enchanting midrange in push-pull and single-ended amplifiers due to low distortion. Although it has the disadvantage of low power and overheating, the goal was to develop a concept that incorporates the advantages of this technology.

The Classic A concept means higher idle current, with less distortion and limited maximum power. Push-pull amplifiers offer 4-16 times more power compared to Class A technology, but are usually accompanied by harmonic distortions.

Andreas Hofmann created the V 70 Class A, a Class A push-pull amplifier in a pentode circuit, adopting Dynamic Bias Control technology. This allows dynamic adjustment of the amplifier's limited dynamic range and power, providing approximately double output power at 50 W RMS and up to 70 W maximum power (with Super Black Box).

The amplifier features a balanced input and an optional phono plate. The self-adjusting auto-bias circuit automatically adapts to the tubes used without the need for adjustment. The LED BIAS method remains available for checking the output tubes.

The V 70 Class A offers Power High and Low power options for optimal adaptation to different power tubes, supporting tubes such as KT 120 or KT 150 for Power High. The amplifier also features ECO mode and an adjustable preamp output for direct subwoofer connection.

With the V 70 Class A, the legendary Octave amplifier series is extended with a high musical quality Class A concept.

  • Model: V 70 Class A, optional Phono MM or MC
  • Tube Complement: 4 x KT120
  • Design: Silver aluminum or black aluminum
  • Power Capability: 2 x 50 W continuous, 70 W peak at 4 Ohm
  • Frequency Response: 20Hz-20kHz
