Description

Description

This research on the meaning of Solomos' verses will therefore lead us to a more extensive examination of his early poems, which often have minimal value, while we will ignore another work from the same era, much more interesting, the "Dialogue" (1824).

Without being entirely original, it is vivid, highly attractive, and would have much to teach anyone wishing to understand Solomos' perspective on the theories of the Enlightenment. However, it is essentially a defense of the vernacular language rather than a Poetics.

Aside from some information about the poet's preferences and readings, which other sources also provide, this work does not have much to offer our study. Nevertheless, Solomos has devoted a paragraph to his art and the social role of the poet: we will examine it more closely.
