Like the original vintage microphone, the WA-87 R2 excels in recording, almost in all sources. With three polar patterns (cardioid, omni, and figure-8), it adapts to a wide variety of applications and includes an 80Hz high-pass filter if needed. The -10dB pad switch is convenient when you want to record extremely loud sources and not overload the internal electronics. The WA-87 R2 works great on vocals, drums in general, guitars, piano, auxiliary percussion, strings, wind instruments, etc.
The new WA-87 R2 is slightly larger with better electronics and the new rounded head shape adds additional space around the capsule for a more pleasant sonic signature. With authentic vintage warmth, it has a smooth sound with detail and frequency range.
