    Successive 3-4 measurements at the correct distance, each one showing a different value, with a large deviation. 38.6 and the next second 37.3 and then 36.2 ..... and then again 38.6 .... you eventually take an average .... completely unreliable.

    My child had a fever of 37.3 measured with a mercury thermometer and 37.4 with another digital armpit thermometer. With this specific one, it shows a measurement of 38.5 and 38.7 at the distance stated in the instructions, as well as at different distances to see if it's the same. It's a shame because it wasn't cheap.
